Grendon Rangers U7 Match Reports

14th October 2006

GRFC 0 vs Launton 3 & GRFC 0 vs Launton 0

The first friendly match for the U7s this year took place on Saturday 14th October at 11.30am.

We welcomed Launton and played four periods of ten minutes. Grendon mixed their teams up so that every boy played 3 periods of ten minutes, while Launton played their A team for the first 20 minutes and their B team for the second twenty. Taken in that context, Launton won the first 'match' 3-0 and drew the second match 0-0.

This was a sterling and even performance from both teams, and parents and children from both sides were delighted with the enjoyment shown all round. Launton showed their greater experience by taking their chances well but Grendon, with Ed and Charlie firing on all cylinders, showed real promise as well. With a few more games under their belt it would be great to return to Launton and measure our progress then.

Man of the match(es) for Grendon was Ed Curtis. He showed real commitment and drive allied to some great skill and will be a star of the future. Every player gave 100% effort in these matches and all can be really proud of their day in the spotlight!
